Hurricanes Fix and Sabres De-Edge Third

Carolina Hurricanes, by Scott D:
We begin today with a Hurricanes concept by Scott, who runs his own blog called The Concept Corner.  This concept proves that the Hurricanes could have gone with a classic look, while still keeping the hurricane-flag pattern.  Scott has actually used more of that pattern than the Hurricanes ever did, by putting it on the sleeves and also on the pants, which I think is a good idea.  I do miss the unique shoulder yoke on the road jersey, and I also prefer the Hurricanes in red pants because I think red pants help set them apart from other red and black teams.  Those two issues are just personal preferences though, there is nothing wrong with the way they are now.  Overall I think Scott did a great job fixing the Hurricanes new jersey.

Buffalo Sabres Third:
I used a yellow road jersey for the Sabres, so I decided to give them a white third jersey (since they have always had a white jersey).  The striping is inspired by the home and road jerseys from this series, but with a shoulder yoke and only one set of stripes on the sleeves.  The fonts, pants and gloves are the same as with the home and road jerseys, but there are new white helmets and socks.

Bruins De-Edge Third

Boston Bruins Third:
This is basically a yellow version of the home and road jerseys, but the "B" escapes from the spokes.  I did this because I wanted the Bruins to have a yellow jersey, but I wanted to keep the traditional Bruins look.  To fit in with the rest of this series, this would actually be a light coloured jersey (hence the yellow helmet), and it would be worn against other team's home jerseys (similar to Toronto's white third jersey from a few years ago).  Pants and gloves are the same as the primary jerseys (and really the socks are the same as the home jersey), but there is a new helmet.

Battalion and Ducks De-Edge Third

North Bay Battalion, by Alan:
We start off today with a North Bay Battalion concept by Alan.  He has created a great new set of logos based off of the team's current script (you can read his description on the concept itself).  Those logos are paired with classy yet some what modern looking jerseys.  For the most part I really like the jerseys, but I kind of think the green jersey could use some black on the sleeves.  I don't know if the black would work on the top part of the sleeves, but it might work on the bottom part of the sleeves (or it might be best the way it is).  Overall, I think these are much better than North Bay's current uniforms.  If you want to see more of Alan's work check out his blog AJH Hockey Jersey Art.

Anaheim Ducks Third:
The striping pattern I used for the third jersey here is similar to the home and road, except the striping is angled not curved, there are hem stripes instead of side panels, and orange is continued to the bottom.  If you look at all the socks in the image below you might get a better idea of what I mean.  I used the recoloured Mighty Ducks logo as the main logo, and the D-foot logo as the shoulder patch.  The fonts, pants, and gloves are the same as the primary jerseys, but there is a new helmet.

Aces and De-Edge Extras

As promised here is the bonus De-Edge post, but first I have a guest concept by Jake88.

Alaska Aces, by Jake88:
To start off I think the home and road are great.  The alterations made to the old Flyers and Thrasers template look good, and it gives the Aces their own distinct look.  The number font also works well with the Aces' logos.  The third jersey isn't as good in my opinion, simply because it's just a recolour of the Flames jerseys.  If you made some alterations to that template, like you did with the home and road, I think it could be much better.  Also I want to mention Jake's concept blog Jake88JerseyConcepts, check it out if you haven't already.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've added a page for all the De-Edge concepts, like I did for my NHL and IIHF redesigns.  To get there click on the NHL De-Edge Series image on the right hand side of the page (or on this link right here NHL De-Edge Series).

Sleeve and overhead views:
I didn't start using the side view of the sleeve right away, and I only used the overhead view for Tampa Bay, so here are some team's I missed at first but thought benefited from these extra views.

Versus:  Here are what some match-ups would look like using jerseys from this series.  I tried to pair up rivals the best I could, but eventually I ran out of rivals.

And like I said on Thursday, I'm not done this series yet, I'm still going to do third jersey concepts for about half of the teams.
