My De-Edge series is now finished.  All the jerseys can be found on the NHL De-Edge series page, which you can get to by clicking the image on the right side of the page, or by clicking this link right here.

So what's next for this blog?  There will still be concepts by me, they just won't be part of a series.  I will also still be posting any concepts that are sent in to me, and I will probably being doing more jersey review posts (like the Stadium Series jerseys, Olympic jerseys, etc).  Also starting tomorrow I will have a Christmas design applied to the blog, and then in the new year I might update the blog's design a bit.

Have a good day!

Central Division De-Edge Vintage Jerseys

I'm back with part two of the vintage jersey program for my De-Edge series, this time for the Central Division.  Also, as you can see, the vintage header at the top of the page is now onto my shield logo.

Chicago Blackhawks Vintage Set:
The Blackhawks wore these jerseys won they won the Stanley Cup in 1961.

Colorado Avalanche Vintage Set:
These are the classic Avalanche jerseys, but specifically from 1999-2007 (darker shade of burgundy).  They won the Cup in 2001 wearing this set.

Dallas Stars Vintage Set:
The Stars wore these jerseys 1995-99.  The Stars won the Stanley Cup in 1999 when these were their home and road jerseys (although they did wear their third when they won the Cup).

Minnesota Wild Vintage Set:
These are the Wild's original jerseys.

Nashville Predators Vintage Set:
I also went with the Predator's original jerseys.

St. Louis Blues Vintage Set:
The Blues wore these jerseys from 1968-73.  The went to the Stanley Cup final three times during that time.

Winnipeg Jets Vintage Set:
This may surprise some people, but I went with the Jets current jerseys.  I wasn't going to throwback to the original Jets since they are a different franchise, so my only other option was Atlanta Thrashers jerseys.

Once again you can let me know if you think my choices are good or bad.  Thanks for visiting!

Pacific Division De-Edge Vintage Jerseys

It's vintage week on SG-94!  Each day this week I'll be bringing back a header (design at top of blog) that I've previously used, and today's is the first header used on this blog.  There were seven different headers I used before I switched to this blog template, so come back each day to see all seven old designs.  The headers are un-altered, besides being extended sideways to fit the current blog template.

Also I'm bringing back the NHL's vintage jersey program for my De-Edge series, but this time it will include all 30 teams, and I've made a few rules for myself.  Fist of all I can't alter anything, the jerseys have to be true throwbacks (not fauxbacks like the recent Winter Classics).  Also both the home and road jerseys must be from the same year.  Speaking of home and road jerseys, I made the home jerseys the light colour and road jerseys dark.  And this isn't really a rule, but I tried to throwback to jerseys teams had success in.

Anaheim Ducks Vintage Set:
These are the jerseys the Ducks wore during their trip to the Stanley Cup final in 2003.

Calgary Flames Vintage Set:
The Flames wore these jerseys when they won the Stanley Cup in 1989.

Edmonton Oilers Vintage Set:
This is the classic Gretzky-era Oilers set.

Los Angeles Kings Vintage Set:
This is the Kings original jersey design, but specifically this set was from 1979-80 (no gold pants but with player names).  The Kings now have five jerseys in my De-Edge series, and none of them are white.

Phoenix Coyotes Vintage Set:
These are the Coyotes original jerseys.

San Jose Sharks Vintage Set:
I also went with the Sharks original jerseys.

Vancouver Canucks Vintage Set:
For the Canucks I went back to the jerseys they wore when they went to the Stanley Cup final in 1994.

Feel free to let me know want you think of my choices for each team.  Have a good day!

Capitals De-Edge Third

Washington Capitals Third:
This concept is basically a blue version of the home and road jerseys, but with hem stripes instead of side panels, and the Capitals wordmark logo instead of the Weagle.  The pants and gloves are the same as with the home and roads, but the helmet is new.

Full Set:
Here is a look at the full set.

I'm not doing a third jersey for the Jets, so this is the final third jersey of this series.  But this is NOT the end of the series.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Guest Concepts, and Sharks De-Edge Third

Hello again.  We have a big post today, four guest concepts, as well as my Sharks De-Edge third jersey.  Let's get going.

Buffalo Sabres, by Ricky:
We start off with a Sabres concept by Ricky.  All three jerseys are a very unique mix, and I love when people try something different, but I don't think it works well here.  My biggest problem with this concept is that it mixes very retro elements like the logo and hem-stripes from the Sabres 40th anniversary jersey, with very modern elements like the sleeve design from the Sabres current third jersey and the number font from their1996-2006 jerseys.  The third jersey also has a mix of retro and modern that I don't think works.  My suggestion would be to choose either modern or retro, and then make all the jersey elements match the look you choose.

Buffalo Sabres, by Jake88:
We also have a Sabres concept (as well as a Hurricanes and a Sharks concept) from Jake, who has a blog called Jake88 Jersey Concepts.  I love the striping pattern used here, it's unique without being to crazy.  The logo and fonts go great with the look created by the striping pattern.  My one suggestion would be to switch the grey and yellow on the pants, because I like seeing more yellow than grey for the Sabres, but that's a very minor complaint.

Carolina Hurricanes, by Jake88:
For Jake's Hurricanes concept, he went back to blue and green like from the franchise's Whalers days, but with what he calls a "Nike twist" by using neon green.  I can't say I'm a fan of this colour scheme for the Hurricanes, I've never associated neon green with hurricanes.  Looking past the colours, I like the rest of the concept, the sublimated hurricane-flag pattern looks really good here.

San Jose Sharks, by Jake88:
Jake's final concept today is this set for the Sharks, which feature's a wave pattern on the sleeves.  I really like that wave pattern, it's subtle enough but still is unique and works well for the Sharks.  Although I think it might be better if it wasn't angled.  The rest of the concept is good, I have no complaints.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

San Jose Sharks Third:
I went with a black third jersey for the Sharks.  The striping pattern is partly inspired by jerseys San Jose has worn in the past, and partly inspired by the home and road jerseys from this series.  There is a new helmet, but the rest of the equipment is carried over from the home and road jerseys.

Here is a look at the full set.

Thanks for visiting.

Canucks De-Edge Third

Hello folks!  I'm back with a third jersey concept for the Canucks.  I don't plan on making third jerseys for the Blues, Lightning, or Maple Leafs, but I may still make one for the Sharks (if I can come up with anything good).

Vancouver Canucks Third:
My original idea for this concept was to make stripes going up the front and back of the jersey that look like the suspenders Johnny Canuck is wearing in the logo.  That didn't look quite right, so I messed around with it until I came up with this striping pattern.  There is a new helmet, but the pants and gloves are the same as what I used for the home and road jerseys.

Full Set:
Here is a look at all three jerseys together.

Have a good day!

Stars Fix and Phoenix De-Edge Third

Dallas Stars, by Scott D:
Scott, who has a blog called The Concept Corner, proposes this as a fix to the Stars new uniforms.  I'll start off by saying that I think the Stars current colour scheme is great, I love how the "victory green" looks on TV, and I liked the switch to silver.  That being said, I think the colour scheme used here works even better.  Green is used much more in the logos this way, and the logos can be the same on both jerseys.  I do think silver works better than gold as the bevel colour, but the light shade of gold Scott used looks better than any attempt to use gold as the bevel colour I've seen before.  The jerseys themselves are perfect, they keep all the good stuff from the Stars current set (unique shoulder yoke and number font), and fix some of the issues (no outline on the numbers, and their green jersey looking similar to the Blackhawks).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phoenix Coyotes Third:
I wanted to try something unique for the Coyotes, so I went with this asymmetrical design.  The "desert sand" coloured striping uses a pattern similar to what Phoenix has used in the past (and what I used for the home and road jerseys), but it is slightly different.  I originally was using "brick red" equipment because I really like how it looks with their current third jersey, but switched to black equipment because I felt it worked better in this case.

Full Set:
Here is the full set.

Now I ask that you take a moment today to think of those who have served their county, and the sacrifices they have made, so that we can live our lives with the rights and freedom we enjoy today.

Penguins De-Edge Third

You may have noticed there has been a longer wait between these last few posts.  That's just because I'm running out of ideas for new concepts.  Inspiration seems to come in waves though, so hopefully this lull in ideas won't last to long.  Also I do plan on doing a third jersey for the Coyotes, but I haven't been able to come up with anything good, so I've skipped them for now.

Pittsburgh Penguins Third:
I made a gold third jersey for the Penguins (which would be used against dark jerseys to fit in with the rest of this series), with a script/logo combo similar to the Flames new third jersey.  That logo below the script is the penguin from their primary logo, but without a triangle behind it.  I ditched the triangle from the logo because (like with the primary jerseys) this jersey has triangles on each sleeve.  The striping pattern is kind of inspired by the jerseys the Penguins wore from 1977-92.  Also the number font is the same as what Pittsburgh currently uses, but without any outlines.

Sleeve Design:
This is a side-view of the sleeve design.

Full Set:
And here is a look at the full-set.

Thanks for visiting.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update 1 (Nov. 9):
Here is a version with the sleeve numbers in the triangle, based off of Justin's comment.
When I first read Justin's comment I thought it was a great idea, but now actually seeing it I think the numbers look a bit too squished-in and off-centered, so for now I'm keeping the first version as the official version.

Let me know if you think I'm wrong.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update 2 (Nov. 21):
Yesterday on HJC Dylan Wonka suggested I add white to the numbers, and looking at it again now I agree with him, the numbers need white.
He also suggested that I move the TV numbers to the triangle like Justin suggested earlier.  I still wasn't convinced, but it was two against one, so I thought I'd test it out again but this time using the overhead view (because that would be the best view of the TV numbers).  Once I saw how it looked using that view, my mind was changed, it didn't look awkward like I was picturing looking at my normal template.  So this version is now the official version.

Here is that overhead view.

Thank you to both Justin and Dylan for the advice, and I also want to apologize to Justin for being a bit stubborn at first.

Flyers De-Edge Third

Happy Halloween everyone!  As you can see above I've applied a Halloween design to the blog (with clipart from Webweaver's Free Clipart).  Anyways, today post is for the Flyers.

Philadelphia Flyers Third:
This concept is kind of inspired by the BC Lions third jersey (which is very popular in BC), by using no white in the striping.  I originally had orange numbers as well, but white looked much better.  For the jersey striping, I took the shoulder-stripes from the primary jerseys and moved it down the sleeves, to more closely resemble the striping on the Flyers jerseys throughout the years.  I also tapered the shoulder-stripes towards the collar.  There is a new helmet, but the gloves and pants are the same as with the home and road jerseys.

Full Set:
Here's a look at the full set.

Enjoy your Halloween, and be safe!
